Who we are
A group of friends who decided to start something new. We began during the pandemic in 2021 and we have been meeting ever since.
We are a new congregation of the Brethren Church (Církev bratrská) — ordinary people in the middle of an extraordinary story that we are still discovering through Jesus. We are different ages and work in all sorts of jobs. You are welcome here with your own story, whatever it is.

Of a community that actually means something — one that supports you when life is hard, that becomes a home, that inspires other people, and where everyone can breathe freely.
Church is family
What defines it is not a building but relationships. We are here for anyone wondering whether God exists. We want to be understandable, honest, and trusting of God even when life gets in the way.
We want to help
We help people find their purpose. We care about this city and the people in it, and we want to be part of what happens here in practical ways — a present-day church built on the values Jesus brings.
We learn from Jesus
Faith is more than religion to us. It is joy, and a relationship between a person and God that we all long for somewhere deep down. We find the Bible still has plenty to say about ordinary life.

We help each other live out what we believe, day by day. Jesus is not a religious symbol to us but a person who walks through life with us.

Every person is worth something. We are here for all ages and all walks of life, and we want everyone among us to experience being accepted by God.

We are grateful for everything we are given, and we would rather share it than keep it.

Sunday gathering
Alongside various things during the week, we meet every Sunday from 17:00 on Bieblova 27. We start with a few songs, then there is a talk about God, Jesus and other topics seen from a Christian angle. Anyone who wants to can share something from their own life. We pray together, and afterwards we are glad to pray with you personally about whatever you are carrying. There is a separate programme for children, and food and drink at the end. Over the summer we run a lighter schedule as a Discovery Bible Study.
Small groups
Curious about what is actually in the Bible? Not sure what to make of it? Want to talk it over with someone? Come and read it with us and argue about it. The groups are for anyone — people who read it every day and people who have never opened it. We have Bibles and New Testaments to give away, free.

Four sessions of 75 minutes to help you understand yourself better. By the end you will have a clearer sense of what you lived through in the past and how it still shapes where you are going. We draw on the Bible, but the course assumes you are not a Christian. If you have a partner, we recommend coming together.

Four sessions of 75 minutes introducing what spiritual life looks like from the perspective of Christian faith: why Christianity is good news, how a relationship with God begins, how to read the old texts of the Bible, and how to make sense of the many spiritual currents around today.

Conversational English with a native speaker, for university students and young adults in Brno. We meet in a local café through the autumn and spring semesters. If English is your first language, this is an easy place to start.

Questions people ask
How do I find you?
For now we meet at Bieblova 27 in Brno. Take the tram — we are a short walk from the Bieblova stop. If you drive, there is no problem parking in front of the entrance. Look for our logo on the doorbell. On Sundays there is a banner outside and someone at the door to welcome you. We are on the first floor.
What should I expect the first time?
A friendly, informal atmosphere, something to eat and drink, and a mix of regulars and people who are there for the first time, just like you. We are a small community. The gathering runs one to two hours.
Do I have to be a believer to come?
Definitely not. Our gatherings are for anyone — whether you believe, are looking, or don't believe at all.
How often do you meet?
Every week, always at 17:00.
What happens on a Sunday?
We sing a few songs to begin, then there is a talk about God, Jesus and various topics from a Christian perspective, with readings from the Bible along the way. We talk honestly about life, and about life with God. Prayer is part of it too. After the main programme we stay for coffee and food and get to know each other.
Do I need a suit and tie?
No. We are informal and clothes are not the point — wear whatever you feel good in. Maybe save the swimsuit for the pool.
Who are the gatherings for?
Anyone, of any profession, age, belief or nationality.
Can I bring my children?
Yes. If there is interest we run a children's programme, and the table football in the hallway usually does the rest.
Who can I talk to if I want to know more?
Any of us, or Petr Dvořáček, who leads Kontakt — either on a Sunday or over a coffee during the week. You are also welcome to come to a Bible study or sign up for one of our courses.
Do you have coffee?
We do. There is food and drink after the main programme, which is when most of the conversation happens.
What kind of church are you?
We are part of Církev bratrská, the Brethren Church — a Protestant, Reformed and evangelical church formed in 1882 when the Free Evangelical Church (founded 1868) and the Free Reformed Church (founded 1880) merged. It works in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and internationally belongs to the wider evangelical alliance of Protestant churches. Its roots go back to the spiritual revival in Bohemia and Moravia in the 19th century.
Can I help out on Sundays?
Please do. There is always something — refreshments, sound and tech, welcoming people at the door, music, helping prepare the children's programme. Every pair of hands is welcome.
What is the Lord's Supper, and do I have to take part?
It is how we remember what Jesus did for us, which only really makes sense if you believe in him. Feel completely free either way.

We are part of something older
We belong to Církev bratrská, which has been present in the Czech lands since the end of the 19th century and traces its line back to the old Unity of the Brethren and Jan Amos Komenský. We came out of the Brno congregation Betanie, which we still work alongside as part of a wider Brno network.
